The Power of Portrait Art

The last two weeks have been extremely busy. I’ve been working hard trying to get my students at Chestnut Grove School to put their portfolios together. My friend Diarmuid and I have also been working with a group of primary schools on one of our recent Site Specific Sculpture in Schools projects. http://sitespecificsculpture.wordpress.com/

My own two kids seem to have a better social life than I do and as a result I’ve been left with very little me time. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’d much rather my kids were outgoing than shy like I was when I was their age and I love teaching.

Just in the nick of time, I came across a very inspiring TED talk by an artist called JR. He’s a photographer that has used his art in a very clever way to fight against conflict in various countries across the world. JR was invited to speak by TED because of his contribution to others.

It reminded me of how important the role of a portrait artists can be.
